There’s no definite path to success. Life would take you to many different places before you get to your proverbial destination, but the great part is, you can take matters into your own hands. Check out these influential people for example. Here are the paths they took for your reference, some online courses, and other suggestions to help you get ahead!

Gretchen Ho

Gretchen Ho is a TV presenter, former athlete, model, and philanthropist among other things! A testament that brains, beauty, and brawn can exist together—she graduated with a double degree in management engineering and communications from Ateneo de Manila University! As if those weren’t enough, she also took up a minor in development management, all while playing for the Ateneo Lady Eagles Volleyball Team.

If that’s the kind of path you see for yourself, check out these online courses here.

Vico Sotto

What’s a list of recent role models without Mayor Vico Sotto? He has garnered praise since the beginning of the quarantine—not only for his action plan, but also his swift and positive response to critics. We love a humble man.

He graduated from Ateneo de Manila with a degree in political science before pursuing a post-graduate degree in public administration from the Ateneo School of Government. But aside from his education, it’s also his skills as a communicator that make him such an effective and admirable leader.

You don’t have to become mayor to see the fruits of becoming an effective communicator. Take these short courses here!

Bela Padilla

Now, a college degree isn’t the only way to success. Just look at Bela Padilla! She finished senior high school in Collegio San Agustin – Makati. She took an elective in journalism where she was scouted to be a part of Star Magic Batch 15 during a field trip to ABS-CBN. It was then that she began her career in TV and acting. This didn’t stop her from learning though.

She’s taken different workshops and lectures to improve on her artistry—most notably, acclaimed writer Ricky Lee’s writing workshop.

If writing or storytelling is your thing, check out these short courses right here!

Angel Locsin

Did you know that she was a Thomasian? Angel Locsin finished high school at the University of Santo Tomas High School in Manila. But, as with a lot of celebrities, she decided to focus on her career. She instead took a short course for fashion design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.

She has been in the industry long enough to have received several awards from different organizations for different things—as a humanitarian, actress, and even as an outstanding citizen. Her character may not have been mama’s favorite in Four Sisters and A Wedding, but she appears to be one of ours.
