Last May 2019, over 120 international organizations participated in the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) Mega Career Fair. This annual event aims to help APU’s students and alumni get in touch with potential career opportunities.
The turnout for this year totalled a little over 6,000 participants. Companies determined to find the perfect candidate set up exhibition booths and conducted on-the-spot interviews. By the end of the day, over 1,500 candidates received offers for either full-time or internship roles.
These offers were from companies looking for expertise in various fields such as: Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Management, Cyber Security, Data Science, Design Engineering, Finance, and Information Technology.
Among those who attended the Mega Career Fair was DHL Asia Pacific Shared Services, whose representative praised APU’s crop of talent:
“In our opinion, APU is the most internationalised university in Malaysia, hence we are here to look for interns and fresh graduates to join our Finance and Accounts team…”
Multinational company PricewaterCoopers were also happy to attend the APU Mega Career Fair for the second year in a row. According to a representative from the brand:
“Students are also from diverse cultural backgrounds, and this is the kind of diversity we are looking for.”
This selection included students from an equally diverse set of disciplines. Emeline Wang, a Year 2 student taking up a BSc in Software Engineering, also attended the fair. When asked about her mandatory 16-week internship, she replied:
“I’ve found a few companies who are positive about having me as an intern, as I’m looking for a job related to programming, I find these opportunities very relevant for my future.”
Truly, Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation aims to accomplish its vision of nurturing students into career-professionals.
